The following rule applies to all categories except Pro Men (AAA), Pro Women (AAA), and Pro Mixed (AAA).
It is valid for Men (AA), Women (AA), Hobby Men (A), and Hobby Women (A) categories.
For Pro categories, standard FIVB Beach Volleyball Rules will apply. In general, FIVB Beach Volleyball Rules apply to this tournament.
However, during team play, when players set the ball to their teammate (except for serve receive), double contact faults on overhead finger passes will not be called, even if the contact is not perfectly clean.
If a team believes their own set was excessively poor, they may choose to call the fault on themselves and award the ball to the opponent.
However, opponents and the scorekeeper acting as referee are not allowed to call faults on the opposing team’s sets or stop the rally.
Only the referee may call faults such as prolonged contact or lifting.⚠️ Standard Rule Enforcement Applies in the Following Situations:
-
During serve receive
-
When sending the ball over the net using an overhead finger pass (at any moment of the rally)
In these cases, the set must comply with standard FIVB rules.
Faults may be called by the referee or acknowledged by the team committing the fault. The opposing team may not stop play, but after the rally ends, they may politely ask the referee or opponents to consider whether a fault occurred.
If the team committing the action accepts the fault, the ball is awarded to the opponent.
If they do not consider it a fault (even in case of double contact), play continues and the opposing team must adjust accordingly.⚠️ Additional Fault Situations
-
Prolonged contact / lifting / catching
-
Open-hand attacks (pokey-style) where the ball is held or stuck in the fingers
In such cases, the referee (scorekeeper acting as referee) will call the fault.
